signed with monogram and dated ‘RHL 1631’ in the plate. Beautiful impression of this rare etching, very small margins cut off on the rim. In the upper corners letters in old handwriting. Literature: Bartsch/ White & Boon 16 & New Hollstein 80 only state. The cap was only added after the hair on the head was completely drawn. However, there are no known prints of the portrait in a state in which the cap is not yet visible. Rembrandt wears a fur-trimmed cloak, which he also wears in other self-portraits.
