Rembrandt van Rijn, Peter and John Healing the Cripple
Rembrandt van Rijn (after)
(Dutch, 1606-1669)
Peter and John Healing the Cripple at the Gate of the Temple, 1659
Etching and drypoint on laid paper
7 1/8" x 8 1/2" (image)
Quarter inch margin. Posthumous fourth state of four, estimated to be a later 19th century impression. Written in pencil to the reverse of the bottom margin is "121603.0002," a catalog inventory number from an unknown previous collection.
Professionally framed, measuring 19 1/2" x 21" in total.
Condition Report: A very good later impression. The sheet has been laid down for its float framing, affixed to a board and supported with archival paper supports affixed to the reverse. There is foxing across the sheet. The sheet has crisp corners, noting only a very gentle flattened fold to the top right corner. Some skinning to the bottom margin and very faint all-over toning from a past framing.
