Notes
Insects often appeared on Lalique's vases, and 'Gros Scarabées' is considered one of his most outstanding examples. The scarab was used in the Art Deco period after the war in stylised form as a symbol of rebirth.
Copper oxide was used to achieve the red colour.
Listed in the 1928 and 1932 catalogues, not reissued after 1947, making it a 'closed model'. All examples are therefore pre-war, and limited to the original production era of René Lalique.
