Ritual calabash, Bamum culture, Cameroon. Height: 68 cm; Diameter 37 cm. Powerful ritual object from Cameroon. This is a calabash which used to contain palm wine, drunk during Bamum ceremonies. The calabash is ornamented with four figurines surrounding the superior part. The large part supports different elements of magical essence, bones, skulls, jaws, feathers, seeds. . . Much presence emanates from the whole, the figures seem to be animated, the sculptor knew how to breathe life into this piece. Wonderful patina due to a long use. This object is rare, ancient and authentic. Around 1930. Provenance:
