Albumen photograph, 3.75 x 5.5 in., on 4.25 x 6.5 in. mount with lower right blindstamp of "Pollock." Rarely encountered post-war pose of Robert E. Lee, signed in lower margin, "R.E. Lee." One of two photographs made in 1869 by Henry Pollock of Baltimore, MD while Lee was on his way to Washington, DC to meet Ulysses S. Grant. One of the only known photographs of Lee wearing a “necktie” instead of the typical “bow tie”.
