Robert Rauschenberg: Sling-Shots Lit #1
Sling-Shots Lit #1
1985
#23 of 25
Published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles
Gemini G.E.L. #41.155
Medium: 12-color lithograph and assemblage with a sailcloth, Mylar, a wooden lightbox, a fluorescent light fixture, aluminum, a moveable window shade system, and Plexiglas bars
Size: 84.5" x 38.75" x 12.5"; (215 x 98 x 32 cm)
Signature: Retains Gemini G.E.L. plaque with facsimile signature with date and edition on lower left side of lightbox
Condition: Very good original condition. The reds of the lithographed screens appear attenuated. The lightbox is currently functional, however, the fluorescents on the right side of the lightbox are dimmer, which appears to be an electrical issue rather than an issue with the bulbs. Wooden lightbox with some dents, mainly along edges, and a more significant dented loss to lower left front corner. Some scuffs and creases to Mylar sheets. An area of apparent separation to the Mylar of the backmost screen, that runs horizontally. A spray of pinpoint paint transfer droplets to left facing panel of lightbox, likely house paint. Overall, presents very nicely in person.
