[ translate ]

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st to early 2nd century CE. A wonderful and wearable ring formed from 82% gold (equivalent to 18K+ gold) with a narrow shank and a thick body. The recessed bezel holds an ovoid carnelian intaglio of warm vermilion and citrine hues, and the top displays incised images of a winged griffin - with one forepaw atop a petite sphere - and a standing horse with a wild mane. Both creatures are presented next to tall palm fronds, and a thin incision separates each zoomorphic scene. Size (ring): 0.7" W x 0.9" H (1.8 cm x 2.3 cm); (intaglio): 0.6" L x 0.4" W (1.5 cm x 1 cm); quality of gold: 82% (equivalent to 18K+); total weight: 3.6 grams; US ring size 5.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-American collection, 1980s to 2000s; ex-Frances Artuner collection, Belgium, collected in the 1960s

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
