Roman Bronze Harpy Vessel Leg

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A cast-bronze leg for a smaller vessel. The flared upper body of the foot depicts a human-faced harpy with outspread wings, a slender lower body, and a singular clawed foot atop a discoid base. Decorative feet like this example were used on very high quality bronze vessels as wealthy Romans were known to embellish almost anything. Covered in lustrous green patina, this is a fabulous example of opulent adornment! Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 1.25" W x 1.8" H (3.2 cm x 4.6 cm); 2.75" H (7 cm) on included custom stand.
