Roman Bronze Head

**First Time At Auction**

Rome, Imperial, ca. 1st Century CE. A lovely petite bronze head formed using the lost wax (cire perdue) process. Topped with a wavy hairstyle or headpiece crowning its brow, this square face features strong curved eyebrows, enlarged deep-set eyes, a flat nose, a small closed mouth, and a rounded chin above a clothing collar. Layers of brown and dark-green patina envelop the entire head and imbue it with an elegant presentation evocative of ancient Rome. Size: .875" L x .5" W x .9375" H (2.2 cm x 1.3 cm x 2.4 cm)

Provenance: ex Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan USA acquired before 2000
