He was his legate in Gaul. in the year of mintage, and praetor. After Caesar's assassination in 44 BC he was involved in a mediation between the opposing parties. He was also a strategist and author of works on military topics. He added Book VIII to the work of Caesar's The Bello Gallico. He died in 43 BC fighting against Antony.
