Roman Leaded Bronze Standing Figure w/ Large Horn

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A cast-leaded-bronze statuette covered in lustrous brown and green patina. The figure presents standing atop delineated legs, wearing a cloth sash around his waist, and holding an enormous curved horn in both hands. The stocky shoulders and muscular physique denote that this would have been someone of stature, though the absence of his head only deepens the mystery behind his identity. Size: 1.6" W x 4.875" H (4.1 cm x 12.4 cm); 5.5" H (14 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-Gorny & Mosch, Munich, Germany, 2000’s (~2015); ex-private European Collection, 1980’s
