Roman Marble Statue Foot

1st century BC-2nd century AD. A finely carved marble left foot, once part of a larger statue, modelled wearing a sandal with detailing to the toes, nail beds and sandal sole; mounted on a custom-made stand. See The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 23.160.7, for a similar form. 285 grams total, 95mm including stand (3 3/4"). From an important English collection; formerly in an old French collection; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.10780-177432.
