Roman Stone Stamp Seal Bead

Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A carved agate stamp seal with an ovoid stamp face bearing the incised image of a stalk of grain, perhaps representative of wheat. The body of the stamp has a rounded profile with a suspension hole drilled through the center and would have hung from a necklace strand or a key ring. Grains were some of the most important agricultural crops produced within the Roman Empire and were used to create myriad types of foodstuffs, medicines, and other products. Size: 0.75" W x 0.7" H (1.9 cm x 1.8 cm)
