Rowland Pym, British 1905-2010 - Landscape with two figures; ink on paper, 20 x 28.8 cm: together with another work by the same artist, 'Top Hats, study for a mural at Hyde Park Hotel', ink and watercolour, signed lower right, 20.8 x 16.3 cm (2) (ARR) Provenance: private collection, gifted by the artist and thence by descent Note: celebrated for his playful and nostalgic style, reminiscent of his contemporary Rex Whistler, Pym created illustrations for books including the novels of Nancy Mitford and Thackeray's 'Vanity Fair'. Pym is also well-known for his trompe de l'oeil windows at Biddesden House.
