Royal bed with incredible marquetry in the style of the outstanding cabinetmaker André-Charles Boulle. Made around 1870/80 in the Régence style/Napoleon Trois epoch, the exuberant lust for ornamentation can be marvelled at here in its most elaborate form. Rich floral patterns and rocaille elements as well as enchanting figural depictions in the style of the playful rococo are laid into XX veneer in the highest quality as detailed marquetry work. The ebonised elements are decorated with fire-gilded bronze and dolls. Bronze fittings, boulle marquetry in red tortoiseshell and fine brass inlays over the entire surface. Slats for slatted frames were added to the bed later. Height of headboard 142 cm, width 152 cm, length 230 cm, height of footboard 113 cm, interior 134 x 196 cm. Signs of wear due to age, in need of restoration.
