Rug - 137 cm - 86 cm - Baluch Afghan
pile: % wool
Weft & Warp: 100% Cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Node count: approx. 160,000 / m2
pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan
The Baluch carpets (also Baloch) come from a nomadic ethnic group from the Balochistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production and sheep, goat and camel breeding. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep's wool or goat hair from the tribes' own herds. Due to their tribal origins, the carpets are usually smaller due to the high transport requirements, have geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with vibrant patterns in white, ivory, yellow or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, but woven quite tightly, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for everyday use and lots of movement. Even today, these carpets still offer excellent value for money and excellent durability.
