Our Samarkand carpets take their name from a traditional trading place in the Orient - the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan. Samarkand carpets were made in the late 19th century by the renowned Swiss trading family Ziegler. Samarkand carpets are knotted by hand with around 350,000 knots per m2 and promise very high quality.

Today, Samarkand carpets stand for exceptional quality and modern, oriental-inspired patterns. The wool used is of high quality and the color palette is softer and more subtle than that of classic oriental carpets. The shorter pile makes it easy to keep the carpet clean.
