An icon from the Balkans depicting the Nativity of Jesus Christ, dated 1852 - Tempera on panel with gold haloes and bucolic landscape on the background. The black in the cave is a symbol of the mystery of the divine nature, the light of God radiating from a star illuminates and blesses the whole scene. The painting is of good school. It shows small touch-ups and a slit. The wooden panel has wedge-shaped dovetail reinforcements. It has already received an anti-woodworm treatment. The painting subject is quite rare.
