Ca.19th Century AD; An attractive gilt bronze seated Buddha Shakyamuni in Bhumisparsa Mudra, with its righten hand touching the lotus trone and the left hand resting on its lap holdin an alms bowl; this position, also called "touching earth" symbolizes the moment of the Buddha's enlightment. The broad face with serene, downcast expression and flanked by long earlobes beneath the tight whorls of hair surmounted by a tall usnisa; dressed in loosely draped decorated robes. Very good Condition.Size;225mmx165mm;1800g. Provenance: London Estate collection of Asian and Oriental Art.
