Behold! He is coming, leaping over the mountains, skipping over the hills."The Song of Songs ends in the eighth and final chapter.Verses 13 and 14 of chapter 8 provide a symbolic bracket for the entire book: The bridegroom addresses his beloved, asking to hear her voice, and the bride in response urges him to come to her, "to the mountains of fragrance." This dialogue closes the book, leaving an impression of the eternal pursuit and meeting of love.This image is part of a series of 12 engravings created by the artist in the early 1970s, in which he interpreted various passages from the Song of Songs, one of the most sensual books of the Old Testament. The Song of Songs is a book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament. It is a collection of poems and songs that explore the nature of love and courtship.
