Samuel Nelson
American attorney and Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, (1792–1873) who served from 1845 to 1872. He concurred on the 1857 Dred Scott decision, although for reasons different from Chief Justice Roger B. Taney's. Otsego County Bank check, 6.25 x 2.5, filled out and signed by Samuel Nelson, "S. Nelson," payable to "Myself" for $1135, November 1, 1853. In fine condition.
