Sassanian Leaded Bronze Kohl Jar w/ Rooster Stopper

Near East / Central Asia, Sasanian (Sassanian / Sassanid) Empire, ca. 6th to 7th century CE. An interesting leaded-bronze vessel with tripodal legs and a compressed body for holding kohl or other cosmetics. A charming rooster stopper fits into the mouth of the container, and at one time had a slender rod that functioned as both an applicator and stopper to contain the contents within. A rich patina covers the surface of both. Size: 1.25" W x 3.125" H (3.2 cm x 7.9 cm)
Provenance: ex-Davis collection, Houston, Texas, acquired before 2013 from various auction houses in London, UK, and New York, USA

Condition Report: Surface pitting and nicks to rooster and loss to spatula shaft. Age commensurate surface wear and nicks to vessel. Nice patina on both pieces.
