Scarce Kosmic Raised Pillar Casting Reel

Stamped with a model number of 947 on the underside of the full-length foot, this hard rubber and German silver reel has a pillar to pillar diameter of 3" with a 1 3/8" wide spool. The straight-line "The Kosmic Reel" stamp is very faint, though easily read with even slight magnification on this unusual example that has a spool flange "brake" that rides on two of the foot pillars, with a threaded rod protruding out below the tail plate - presumably once fitted with a knob to adjust the pressure placed on the flange. With a sliding click that works well, screw-off end caps and a hard rubber grasp counter-balance handle, a VG overall condition reel with faded rubber sides and a few light and scattered scratches - including a crudely added name of a past owner - Jack Kuntz.
