Bronze statue representing St. Michael the Archangel in the act of killing the devil. Saint Michael The Archangel has been the patron saint of the Polizia di Stato (State Police) since 1949. It appears five times in the Bible, we know its literary representation in the Divine Comedy: he is the heavenly messenger who descends from Paradise to open to the poet and his master the gates of the City of Dis while "full of disdain" he reaffirms the definitive defeat of the evil spirits and their powerlessness against the divine will [Inferno (Hell) , canto IX, 64-105] . It is a bronze statue made with the lost wax technique. It was made out of a cast of the original copy in the early 20th century by a historical foundry in Naples. In very good condition except for some small signs of ageing. Height: 74/75 cm Width: 57 cm.
