“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders and He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end” (Isaiah 9: 5) . The Child in the manger (as mentioned in the Bible passage above) is the first expression of the iconography of Christ God. This polychrome wood carving is an excellent example. Its manufacture is German and dates back to the end of the 19th century. Of course, the basket is not for sale, but only for demonstration purposes. The sculpture is in excellent condition.
