Description: figure of a youngster angel, covered, as in the classic images, by a robe that leaves the shoulders and upper chest bare. Leaning or half-seated posture. Originally, this figure would be a part of an altarpiece and its position should be high, which matches the position of the head that is looking down. Since the Renaissance it is common for angels or children (putti) to be a part of altarpieces and all kinds of artistic ensembles. In the 18th century its presence increased in a considered way. Iconography: there are many types of angels in the heavenly courts. The most important ones are the archangels (Raphael, Michael and Gabriel) . Seraphim, cherubs and thrones follow in the hierarchy. The name "youngster angel" is to distinguish teenage-looking angels from "child angels". School: Spanish sculpture from the 18th century. By the polychromy, devoid of gold, and the physiognomy of the angel, of classical profile and solemn attitude, it would be a piece from the mid-18th century. The robe, with straight folds and bluish, smooth, unadorned, corresponds to the Neoclassical aesthetic. The polychromy of the carnations is the traditional of the Spanish imagery.
