Sculpture, Ship model (1) - Marble - 19th century

Beautiful Italian Ship "Navicella" made in Marmo Pario, a very important marble used in history of art. On the bow the boat present two carved dolphins on each side of the hull. The dolphins have the head in common and it look into infinity. On the side of the boat there are small arches. Other arches hold the stern castle. Inside the ship there are steps that descend to the center. The base is made of Carrara marble with squares inlaid in Yellow marble(Giallo Antico) . The lower part of the base is in Breccia Verde d'Egitto. The Ship and its base are not glued to each other but the Ship is just placed on the base.
