A female Baule sculpture with three children, "Agba-workshop", around 1920 - 30, Ivory Coast, Agba region, close to Dimbokro. The sculptures of the so-called Agba workshop are not only extremely rare but are among the most imposing sculptures of the Baule, which are characterized by an almost "baroque" style. Normally these "king-size" sculptures were in the possession of the Baule aristocracy. Condition report: Good condition for an object of this type and age. Minor marks, nicks, scratches, abrasions, small chips, and cracks consistent with age and use. Age cracks, including a largerat the torso of the sculpture, heavy, hardwood with a blackened, shiny patina.
