Early rare 18th century polychrome sculpture of Saint Blasius in robe (62. 3cm) . Very beautiful polychrome sculpture of Saint Blasius Van Sebaste in robe decorated with gilded elements. 18th century, from France. Blasius of Sint-Blasius (Armeens: Սուրբ Բարսեղ, Sourb Barsegh; Grieks: Σγιος Βλσσιος, Agios Vlasios; Turkish: Aziz Vlas) (presumably died in 316) is a saint in the Roman Catholic Church and also in the Eastern Orthodox churches. Not much is known about him other than through later legends. He is said to have been bishop of the Armenian city of Sebaste. He would have died a martyrdom. Blasius is best known as the patron saint of those who suffer from throat disorders.
