Scuola Italiana del XVII-XVIII Secolo - Bacco e Sileno

[ translate ]

\Artist: Scuola Italiana del XVII-XVIII Secolo
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 141_175_5_cm
Antique painting, oil on canvas, dating back to between the end of the seventeenth and the first part of the eighteenth century, depicting Bacchus and Silenus. The canvas illustrates the satyr Silenus, to whom Jupiter had entrusted the care of Bacchus, while instructing him to drink wine. The nymph Nisa, who previously nursed him, contemplates the scene. Refined and evocative work, the pictorial surface of which is decidedly cured and with passages of excellent quality, in which the author demonstrates excellent talent. The style characters suggest the attribution to an author probably from an Emilian area. In excellent general condition considering the time of the painting, there are some small scattered restorations and some slight unveiling of the pictorial surface, however nothing particularly relevant. There are no conservative problems. The original canvas has a relining that does not seem to need any interventions. A fine crackle is visible compared to the time. The frame seems to have been replaced at the time of the relining. Framed in a monumental posthumous frame, which presents defects, breaks and shortcomings. Measurements of the painting: 100 x 135 cm. Frame size: 141 x 175 cm. Work accompanied by a certificate of photographic authenticity, as per current legislation. Shipping via insured express courier and packaging carried out with the utmost care.
