Religious painting work of sacred art, for collectors and lovers of the genre. XIX century. Skilful pictorial hand of a painter of the Italian school Florence Tuscany. Unsigned painting with restored frame. Italian Tuscan School at the end of the 19th century. San Barsanofio, known as the Great Elder of the Desert, always lived in complete solitude at the monastery of San Seridone located in the desert of Gaza (Palestine) , exercising his activity of spiritual direction through the exchange of letters and notes dictated to his secretary, then merged into a correspondence. His main brother and disciple was John called the Prophet, abbot of the monastery of Merosala and teacher of Doroteo of Gaza, also the author of part of the correspondence. Over 800 letters of the entire correspondence have reached us [4] which had a great influence on the history of Eastern monasticism.
