Seven Continental Vinagrettes including a Gold-Filled Pear. Lots includes a circa 1740 Germanscrew-top pear form- vinaigrette engraved to the top with ribbing, the sides with Queen Mother standing and holding a staff; and sheaves of wheat bracketting the initials S W B. The base with stars and cross hatching and vegetation. Sponge on red thread present to interior. Sold together with a possibly English oval form silver vinaigrette, the exterior lid engraved 1841 in a diamond within a laurel wreath to edge; the interior gold washed lid pierced and reticulated with laurel wreath and monogram CS, the base also gold-washed. Three filigree vinaigrettes of white metal. Another silver plated example shaped as a flask, with scrolls to sides of a shield; and another flask form example of mother-of-pearl with gold-plated edges and top. Minute white metal dropper and a pair of toy scissors also included in this lot. Marks abraded from first two articles, possibly to make importation easier. No marks observed on others. England and Germany. Circa 1740 and later. 14.5 dwt, the first two items; the pear 1 1/2" H. By descent from the Kaumheimer family, Stuttgart, Germany. Dent and some wear to first; dent wear and scratches to second; lids absent to flask. Filigree examples and the other examples worn.
