Sevres 18th C. Porcelain Lidded Potpourri Vase
9"H x 8" W at handles. Marked with the double L monogram of Louis XVI with a capital letter A. MArks indicate production date of 1753. Blue Lapis ground with exquisite images of cherubs in white and on the reverse a classical amphora, a dish, and laurel branches. Gilt pineapple finial. The painter's initial S underneath the double L monogram is attributed to Meraud, Pierre-Antoine. No incised marks noted. Old repairs including the finial and pedestal base being reattached and painted over. Wear to gilding. A crescent shaped hairline crack shows on the inside of the vase. Two minor edge chips.
