Shir HaShirim and Pirkei Avot, Translated into Ladino and Spanish. Amsterdam, 1664. Rare.

Paraphrasis Caldaica en los Cantares de Selomoh, con el Texto Hebrayco, y Ladino, Traduzida en lengua Espanolla. 1664. Song of Songs, trilingual edition: Hebrew, Ladino (in Latin letters) and Spanish. The Spanish translation is from the Aramaic translation of Shir HaShirim; bound together with Tractate Avot in Spanish translation, with a special title page.
What is unique about this book is that it was printed together with Tractate Avot in Spanish translation with a separate title page, but the pagination continues in Tractate Avot.Especially rare book. Listed in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book according to a photocopy of only the title page, which was printed in an article inֲ Ba'alei HaSefer, Ktav Et L'Cheker HaSefer HaIvri 12 (1986) pp. 101. The copy which appears in the National Library was just recently received from the Valmadonna Library. Before us is an early edition of this book which was printed in a number of editions, for some communities in Spain, for the Shabbats between Pesach and Shavuot, who would read Shir HaShirim and Pirkei Avotֲ then. It is possible that this is the second edition of the book (and not the first). However, in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book, there is no earlier edition listed. 153 pp, 15 cm. Fine condition. Aging stains. Tear in the margins of page 143 with damage to several words. Gilt leather binding, with remnants of buckles and damage to the spine.
