Hodder and Stoughton, London - 1910, first UK trade edition - 128p + ads, 24cmx20cm - Publisher's reddish brown faux-leather cloth elaborately gilt decorated - Complete with the thirty color plates with tissue guards incl. frontispiece by Edmund Dulac - condition: A very good copy, with original brown leather illustrated boards with gilt, some wear to spine rear, some hinge cracking; all plates and tissueguards present.

Sleeping Beauty is one of the great Hodder & Stoughton "gift" books—"precious objects, to be looked at with awe and handled with care" (Lewis, 186) — boasting 30 full-page mounted color illustrations by Edmund Dulac. "Dulac remained true to the medium of watercolor, and the critics were unanimous in their praise. He was recognized as an illustrator of first rank, a master of the fantastic and exotic and 'a dreamer of extraordinary dreams" (Dalby, 82-83) .
