[ translate ]

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A cast-bronze spear blade of a sizable form with an elongated triangular profile, a rounded butt end, and a petite tang with a perforated suspension hole. The middle of each blade face is embellished with a trio of raised ribs that have two divergent on the sides nearest the tang, and the central-most rib splits into two slender ribs near the halfway point between the tip and tang. Layers of brown and green patina envelop the entire weapon, and areas of azurite patina suggest this item contains a relatively high tin content. Size: 19.8" L x 2.9" W (50.3 cm x 7.4 cm)

Provenance: private J.H. collection, Beaverton, Oregon, USA, acquired in the 1990s; ex-Tom Cederlind collection, Portland, Oregon, USA

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#150077
Condition Report: Very slight bending to overall form, with nicks and abrasions to blade edges, ribs, and tang, and waxy stabilization material across most surfaces, otherwise intact and very good. Great green and brown patina with attractive areas of azurite patina scattered throughout.
