Wedding iron VERE The VERE are great blacksmiths; therefore many of their important pieces are in this material (iron or bronze) . The present piece, large in size, with a very stylized human appearance, was used in a ritual, prior to marriage. Indeed, as soon as a man decided on the choice of his future wife, with the agreement of her parents, this statue was placed near the entrance door of the bride's hut. This means, in the whole community's eyes, that the household's daughter is reserved and can no longer be courted ! Typical work of the Vere: shape of the face, hair curls and hands, incisions on the torso. Beautiful natural patina.
