Circa 1136-1145 AD. Local dies closely copying BMC type i, possibly struck under David I of Scotland after January 1136 AD. Obv: profile bust with sceptre and +STIFNE REX legend. Rev: cross moline with fleur in angles with +ERE[BALD:ON:C]ARD legend for the moneyer Erebald at Carlisle mint. S. 1278 variant (local dies); N. 873 variant (ditto); see Mack, R.
