Stool - Copper, Wood - Bakota - Gabon

Rare, tribally used, KOTA stool. This stool is remarkably refined. The seat is decorated with various geometric patterns engraved in yellow copper. It obtained a slightly greenish patina of age. Slight traces of wear and tear. In good condition. The wood underneath the seat contains some cracks due to aging. Chairs and stool are items of prestige. Notice how KOTA use similar characteristics on chairs, sculptures and other objects they create. The "guard" masks on this stool face three directions as protective figures. Provenance: former private collection from Belgium. Collected in the period 1953 - 1959 (More details provided to buyer) . Sold with a certificate of authenticity.
