Several versions of the present composition are known, including a painting by the workshop of Cranach the Elder in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, a panel by a Follower of Cranach in the Staatsgalerie im Schloss Johannisburg, Aschaffenburg, and a copy after Lucas Cranach the Younger formerly at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and offered at Parke-Bernet Galleries, New York, 27 March 1956, lot 10. For further versions see M.J. Friedländer and J. Rosenberg, The Paintings of Lucas Cranach, Ithaca, 1978, nos. 388 J-N.
