Stunning Greek Hellenistic Polychrome Alabastron

**First Time At Auction**

Classical World, possibly Italic, Hellenistic period, ca. 3rd century BCE. A stunning polychrome alabastron, its long body handsomely decorated with registers of scrolled motifs, leafy bands, dotted checkerboards, and at the top stylized rosettes alternating with stylized palmettes, all delineated in fugitive (added) white pigment over black bands alternating with striated red bands. A lovely vessel that most likely held perfumed oils for a lady's toilette. Size: 5" H (12.7 cm); 5.625" H (14.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-G. Loles collection, Connecticut, USA, 1980s
