Stunningly Iridescent Roman Glass Jar w/ Rigaree

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. WOW, WOW, WOW! A stunning glass vessel with liberal rigaree, this piece is simply superb! The form presents with a piriform body rising to a short cylindrical neck that gently flares to a collared rim. Finally, as the piece de resistance, thick undulating trails run from rim to the shoulder and marvelous purple and blue violet iridescence kisses the surface! Size: 2.75" W x 3" H (7 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: private East Coast collection, New Yor, USA; ex-Sasson Ancient Art, Jerusalem, Israel, accompanied by export document

Condition Report: Intact and excellent. Areas where iridescence has flaked gives false illusion of cracking, but there are no cracks or breaks to this vessel. Iridescence does flake off - but this is entirely normal and cannot be avoided to some extent.
