T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings Faux Bamboo Cocktail Table

the ovoid oak top over a conforming frieze, raised on stained maple legs turned to simulate bamboo.
h. 21-1/2", w. 67", d. 37"
Condition Report: **Probably early 1950s.
Sturdy, vintage condition with typical scattered scuffs, shallow scratches, dings and touch-ups throughout.
The larger "bamboo" trim along the top edge with a 5-1/2" section slightly pulled away near one end, but in place. The lower, narrower "bamboo" trim slightly pulled away near the other end, but in place, as well. One narrow angled bracket arm needs reseating.
Glue reinforced to legs underneath, at some point.
Veneers along the apron exhibit general splits, patches and buckling to varying degrees.
All of the above consistent with age and use.
This table is included on the list of "Furniture by Robsjohn-Gibbings/Designed for Mr. & Mrs. Robt. Straus".
There is no signature.

This is a custom piece similar in feeling to faux bamboo custom pieces designed by Robsjohn-Gibbings for the Kendall Penthouse apartment at the original Ritz Carlton on Park Avenue South.
