"Theodore Roosevelt" as president, 1p. 15 x 20.5 in. parchment, Washington, Jan. 9, 1909, the appointment of Rhodric Winfield Brown as "First Lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the Army of the United States". Co-signed at bottom by Secretary of War LUKE E. WRIGHT (1846-1922). With embossed blue U.S. War Office seal and patriotic vignettes at top and bottom. Signature only a tad light, a few tiny spots at top, else fine. Medical Corps appointments are most uncommon.
