THREE 'BLEU DE HUE' PORCELAIN MINIATURE DISHES
China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Chinese blue and white export porcelain miniature dishes for the Vietnamese market. One bowl with deep rounded sides, painted in underglaze blue with a depiction of scholars playing a game and a bat, applied with a metal rim. One saucer of flaring form and shallow sides, painted to the exterior in underglaze blue with depictions of a rooster amongst flowers and with the inscription of the first sentence of the poem 'Peony' by Luo Ye. One with floral decoration in underglaze blue and crackled glaze. The bowl with a two-character Nei Fu ("inner court") mark and the saucer with six-character Da He Bao mark to the underside.

Condition: The bowl with some hairline cracks, the saucer with one larger flake to the glaze, minor firing imperfections.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
