A RARE DECORATED CEILING LIGHT

circa 1900
favrile glass, patinated bronze
signed L.C.T.
33½ in. (85.1 cm) drop
16 in. (40.6 cm) height of shade

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the shade displays vibrant pink and rich brown decoration over a subdued cream and beige ground. The glass surfaces present with scattered extremely minor and fine surface scratches throughout consistent with age and gentle handling. The glass with scattered minor surface regularities, air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making and not visually distracting including some air bubbles which are open to the surface. The glass with occasional extremely minor specks of white house paint. The hanging hardware including the shade collar, socket rod, and canopy appear to be later reproductions and are in very good condition with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions and light wear to the patina, and with minor traces of oxidation and surface soiling consistent with gentle handling. The beaded border around the ceiling canopy with two areas of more concentrated oxidation. The hanging chains appear to be original and are in very good condition. With a period socket. An impressively scaled work with beautifully executed decoration.
