Property from an Important American Collection
TIFFANY STUDIOS
"MILLEFIORI" STALACTITE CEILING LIGHT

circa 1905
favrile glass, gilt bronze
engraved L.C.T.
26 in. (66 cm) drop
13 in. (33 cm) height of shade
9½ in. (24.1 cm) diameter of shade

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand the shade displays a highly naturalistic color palette with soft cream flowers with pink and yellow undertones and apple green leaves decorated over a subtle orange and cream ground. The glass displays a rich iridescence which plays beautifully off the elegant silhouette of the shade. The glass with scattered extremely minor and fine surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The glass with some occasional minor surface irregularities, air bubbles, and particulate inclusions inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The gilt bronze collar with some scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, dents, some occasional pitting, and light wear to the patina consistent with age and gentle handling. The patinated bronze hanging hardware, including ceiling canopy, rod, socket, and suspension chains are later replacements that have been faithfully executed in the manner of the firm’s hardware designs and are in very good condition overall. A very elegant and refined form displaying impressive scale and beautifully executed decoration.
