TWO OTTOMAN SILVER TROUSSE DAGGERS
Ottoman Turkey, late 18th – 19th century
Comprising two equally sized, single-edged plain steel blade daggers, the handles made of two dark wooden panels, the sheath decorated with black leather in the middle and silver at the top and bottom, with a circular belt hoop at the back, with tughra and assay marks, 24.3cm long including the sheath; and two single-edged steel blade daggers with pronounced grooves, one smaller than the other, the handles made of bone, the sheath decorated with green velvet in the middle and nielloed silver at the top and bottom, richly decorated with intricate floral and vegetal motifs, small belt hoop on the side; 25cm maximum length including the sheath.
