TWO PIERCED AND ENGRAVED BRONZE BOSSES
Iran, 10th - 12th century
Comprising two bronze bosses, possibly once used as door ornaments, of circular shape with ribbed rims, incised with vegetal patterns and geometric designs, with openwork protruding centres and a band of pseudo-calligraphy at the top, professionally mounted on metal stands, 20cm diam, 30.5cm high.
Provenance: Acquired in 1960’s – 1970’s in Iran and in the UK since 1981.
