Table; Portugal, XVIII and XX centuries. Rosewood veneer. It has drawers remade in the twentieth century.

Table; Portugal, XVIII and XX centuries.
Rosewood veneer.
It has drawers remade in the twentieth century.
Presents restorations, one of the drawers closed and lack of key.
Measurements: 41 x 70 x 43 cm.
Small size table made of rosewood veneer. The table is supported by four turned legs like a salomonic column. All the legs have the same design, topped with a base in the shape of a chamfered ball, in the upper part of which is joined by a cross, which connects all the legs. As for the main body of the table, it consists of two drawers adorned with a carved decoration and a metal filigree that frames the keyhole. This motif is repeated on the back and sides, despite the fact that they are simulated drawers, and act as an optical effect. Finally, the tabletop, with its rectangular structure, is defined by its sobriety, with decoration only on the outer perimeter. This type of furniture was considered for centuries the most luxurious and valuable pieces of furniture, maintained in all collections and noble houses despite changes in fashion, and finally revalued in the twentieth century within the context of historicism.
